Gene Basa has been tearing up the pins at the D’Blues league held at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl in Robinson’s Place, Malate. Since he became a Brunswick Ball Rep his average has sky rocketed. Along with doubles partner James Dela Cruz, the duo has won the league seven straight times. They are trying for their eighth straight and are off to a fast start. James is also using a mix of Storm and Brunswick balls only.
Basa is currently averaging 234 in league play. Tonight he set his all time high series with a 1101 series for four games. Gene started with a 258 game followed by a 265. He then started with a pair of spares and struck out the game with a 278 game. Though it almost seems as if Basa is always gunning for a perfect game every week, he has come up short several times. Gene has been using the Wild Thing for several months now and has fallen in love with the ball that he almost exclusively uses it for the league. Tonight was Gene Basa’s night as every ball he threw almost seems to strike. He got his biggest break of the evening when he tripped a 4 pin for his 11th consecutive strike of the game and 21st consecutive one of the night. The twelveth and final frame was just another strike for Gene and gave him his fifth career perfect game. Congratulations to Gene Basa. I would not be surprised to see him roll a couple more perfecto before him and his partner wins another league title.
