American professional bowler Tom Smallwood, Columbia 300 ball rep, rolled an impressive 1476 in his first try to take the pole position in the third qualifying day of the Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge. Tom has rolled over 60 perfect games and qualified for the World Series of bowling finals in December. Equally impressive is four time PBA titleist Mike Wolfe, also a Columbia pro staff member with a 1444 series. Mike has 70 perfect games to his credit and won his last title last November, The Ultimate Scoring. England’s Stuart Williams is tied with Wolfe as he checked in with a 1444 series also. All three bowlers automatically qualifies to the finals on Thursday.
Storm pro staff member Tim Mack is in the pole position of qualifiers who have not been seeded to the finals on Thursday. Tim rolled a 1440 series to finish two pins ahead of Malaysian Adrian Ang. Both bowlers are coming of wins, the Sam Ho Cup in Korea and Ankara Open in Turkey respectively. Asian Youth Games Gold medalist Basil Low of Singapore is in third with a 1423 series. Korea’s Kweon Hyeok Yong (1416), England’s Dominic Barrett (1411), Korean Ko Myoung Suk (1404), Aussie Andrew Frawley(1387), Singaporean Benjamin Lim (1381), Indonesian Ryan Lalisang (1380), and Hong Kong’s Vanessa Fung (1371) rounds up the top 10 qualifiers vying for the one million pesos champions purse at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl at Robinsons Place, Malate.
Javee Yusingco of PBA continues to lead the Bevida-Storm Challenge 2009 by increasing his score to a 1506 series and widening his lead over team mate Nilo Penado’s 1487. Making a big jump to third is PBAP-Bowlmart ’s Gene Basa, who rolled a 1458 series, to put him ahead of his team mate J Em Ang (1387) and PBA’s Nelia Santos (1375). Apple Posadas of PBAP-Bowlmart (1373), TBAM’s Kevin Cu (1365) , Anthony Balabbo (1365), PTBA’s Allan Co (1353) and MTBA’s Francis Manalaysay((1350) rounds up the top 10 qualifiers for the finals on September 24.
